A Quick DVAR TOTAH On The PARSHA:

The פסוק says והיתה לו ולזרעו אחריו ברית כהונת עולם (כ"ה,י"ג). חז"ל say ((זבחים ק״א that פינחס did not become a כהן until he killed זמרי because when the כהונה was given to אהרן , it was only given to אהרן, his sons, & generations that are to come after the נתינת כהונה. פינחס was born before the כהונה was given, and therefore was not זוכה to the כהונה until now.
This is the question itself; why wasn’t he זוכה until now? Even more so, after he was made a כהן, his קדושה was his ownקדושה & not the קדושה of אהרן הכהן, so how did פינחס and his sons say ”"אשר קידשנו בקדושתו של אהרן וציונו וגו, when they would דוכן or eat תרומה? Answers ר׳ שמעון שוואב זצ״ל in his ספר מעין בית השואבה, as follows. אהרן הכהן had the מידה ofאוהב שלום ורודף שלום אוהב את הבריות ומקרבן לתורה. אהרן's motto in life was שלום. In נביא it says about אהרן, ״בשלום ובמישור הלך אתי ורבים השיב מעון" (מלאכי ב', ו'). “With peace & fairness he walked with me, and many he turned away from sins.” In the times of the עגל, the Yidden all gathered together and came to אהרן and said “make us a new ה׳", so automatically אהרן הכהן’s Middos kicked in, and he couldn’t fight against them nor be מוסר נפש like חור; and as we know, out came the עגל הזהב. Therefore, when the כהונה was be given over, it had a small פגם. Only אהרן ובניו were זוכה in the כהונה. Any grandchildren that were alive before it was given over, weren’t זוכה בכהונה. But פינחס also was peace loving like his grandfather, and overcame his good Middos. He stood up and went and killed זמרי. With this he was מתקן the פגם from the כהונה, and the כהונה was then spread onto פינחס. And therefore he was able to say"אשר קידשנו בקדושתו של אהרן". What אהרן הכהן lacked in the times of the עגל, was מתוקן by פינחס in this weeks פרשה. Every Yid is “Bentched” with their own unique מידות, and ב״ה we're all able to display them. But we have to know when to use those מידות we were given. גוט שבת
